Solid 3.25 StarsLet me get out of the way what bothers me about this novel Or things that just didn t sit well with me..Technical FlowNow, I do love how the story is structured You get a clear path when it comes to getting to know the characters, their own personal stakes within the story, how certain reveals come about So nothing here dragged at all On that point, it flowed quite well What I didn t like is that there are countless spelling grammar errors So much so that it pulled me Solid 3.25 StarsLet me get out of the way what bothers me about this novel Or things that just didn t sit well with me..Technical FlowNow, I do love how the story is structured You get a clear path when it comes to getting to know the characters, their own personal stakes within the story, how certain reveals come about So nothing here dragged at all On that point, it flowed quite well What I didn t like is that there are countless spelling grammar errors So much so that it pulled me out of the flow of the story often I found myself either having to replace or add a word to a sentence or paragraphs, or just having to re read it twice, just to make sure I understood it correctly These type of things I usually can overlook if it s minimal But when it happens as often as it occurred here, it knocked me out of the flow of the story and I don t like that So I think this edition needs to be updated as far as editing the spell check grammar etc..The N Word I hate this word Whether it s being used in a negative orPositiveway, it irks me It s something that just SCREAMSNon IntelligenceIMO So I m not a fan of the fact that it s used constantly in this book Now to be clear, I do understand that there are folks who speak this way That given the lifestyles environment mentality of these characters, their age etc. that this type of speaking relating to one another would be true to form true to the characters So it fit for them in the story It s just not my cuppa Not a fan of it.Now, given the blurb for this book, it leaves the impression that you will be getting a very dark, sinister shocking read There are plenty of shocking occurrences here I will say that In fact there were times when I think my mouth was wide open upon witnessing certain things happening But the overall plot was very predictable There were many major plot points that I guessed before it s big reveals I think the one I didn t expect shocked me the most, was how the book ended Yes, this one ends on a cliffy So I do wish that overall things weren t left so on the surface But this story, as the layers are peeled back, does go deeper with certain things So I enjoyed that.Having said all of this, this story still didn t keep me from NEEDING to know what was going to happen with these folks It s like a horrible train wreck that you just can t for the life of you, look away from And I was riveted by the mess I was angry, I was curious, but most of all, I was eager to know who was going to get what was coming to them.If I can feel these things, then I say the author s did their job here.None, well most, of these characters really didn t endear themselves to me though I care not one iota for them I was hoping by the end of the book that I would feel something for someone, but nope Well, if you consider loathing them generally just disliking them, then I guess I feel something The only character that I truly loved in this book, was Dontis Grandmother Love her And the only real fuel I have in reading the next book, will be to see how things end up for Dontis I hate this man with a burning passion, you hear me I need to know that I will be made happy in the end When it s all said done Please Ms Levy grant me my wish giggles Overall I do think this was a decent intro to this series or trilogy. If you want nothingthan to be entertained utterly shocked ticked off, then I would recommend this read.Happy Reading

This is the first time I ve read any of Sontia Levy s writing I must say this was a pretty good introduction to the authors work There were several things that I liked, such as the character development, and the way they connected I rated this book 4 stars, but there were times where the story seemed unrealistic For example, it just wasn t realistic to have guns on a cruise ship You would never get past Customs Also, there was a lot of flip flop from past to present that just wasn t a very This is the first time I ve read any of Sontia Levy s writing I must say this was a pretty good introduction to the authors work There were several things that I liked, such as the character development, and the way they connected I rated this book 4 stars, but there were times where the story seemed unrealistic For example, it just wasn t realistic to have guns on a cruise ship You would never get past Customs Also, there was a lot of flip flop from past to present that just wasn t a very smooth transition Too much of that can make a book hard to read If those few things are corrected this story would most definitely be a five star banger I look forward to reading the next story to see what happens to the remaining characters
